Women's leadership in war. Assistance to the Defender in his socialization and psychological support
On August 16, 2024, the UBA Committee on Military Law, Military Justice, and Veterans' Rights organized an important event “Women's Leadership in Times of War. Assistance to the Defender in his socialization and psychological support”.
The event addressed critical issues related to gender roles during the war, social adaptation of the military after demobilization, as well as psychological trauma that may occur to veterans and their families. In particular, attention was paid to the following topics:
- A woman during the war: The issues of gender roles and achieving gender equality in the context of armed conflict were discussed.
- Comprehensive adaptation of the military after discharge: Social and psychological aspects of the military's return to civilian life.
- Psychological trauma related to the combat experience of a partner: Ways to support military families who have experienced stress due to military operations.
The event was moderated by Kateryna Anishchenko, Deputy Chair of the UBA Committee on Military Law, Military Justice, and Veterans' Rights, attorney at RIYAKO&PARTNERS.
Among the speakers were:
- Daria Panfilova, attorney at law, Head at Panfilova & Partners Law Firm, PhD in Law, who focused on the legal aspects of protecting the rights of the military;
- Kseniia Vosnitsyna, director of the Center for Mental Health and Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, who highlighted the issue of psychological rehabilitation of the military;
- Viktoriia Pantiushenko, Advocacy Manager of the Media Initiative for Human Rights, who shared her experience in protecting the rights of families of prisoners of war and servicemen.
The event gathered a wide range of participants and became an important platform for sharing experiences and finding solutions that not only support veterans, but also ensure their effective integration into society, which also needs to adapt to new challenges.
