Lawyers Discussed Insolvency and Arbitration with International Colleagues

On May 28, 2025, an online event titled "Insolvency and Arbitration", organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association’s Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution, brought together legal professionals from Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, and Switzerland to discuss current challenges and the interplay between insolvency proceedings and international arbitration.

During the event, experts addressed a range of key issues, including:

  • Whether insolvency proceedings initiated against a debtor create obstacles to commencing arbitration;
  • The implications of initiating insolvency proceedings during ongoing arbitration;
  • The possibility of recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards against companies undergoing insolvency;
  • Recognition of arbitral awards within insolvency proceedings across different jurisdictions.

  • Iryna Moroz, Deputy Chair of the UBA Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution, Partner at AGA Partners;
  • Nataliia Tuzheliak, Associate at White & Case, London office.

The event attracted a broad audience of legal practitioners, arbitration professionals, and insolvency specialists from various jurisdictions.
