Help Kherson lawyers who are involved in elimination of consequences of the Kakhovka disaster
The Kherson lawyers, who are now voluntarily participating in the elimination of consequences of the Russian-organized criminal demolition of the Kakhovka Dam, are asking for help in meeting the current material and financial needs.
Ievgen Gilin, a Ukrainian Bar Association member, Senior Partner and CEO of the Zhovannyk and Partners Law Firm from Kherson, heads the local non-governmental organization "City of Power", which is currently providing emergency assistance to residents of the Kherson region who are suffering from the consequences of the demolition of the Kakhovka Dam. The NGO cooperates with authorities, law enforcement agencies, units of the State Emergency Service, partner organizations and foundations.
Currently, the work of the NGO "City of Power" is focused on two sectors:
1) ensuring the needs of the region civilians;
2) response to consequences of the demolition of the Kakhovka Dam and early recovery in the Kherson region.
In an open letter, Mr. Gilin describes in detail the needs that currently exist in each of these sectors. Volunteers would be grateful to everyone who has the opportunity and desire to help in meeting these needs.
Needs in the first sector (ensuring the needs of the region civilians):
1. Anti-mosquito products.
2. Diapers for lying adults.
3. Adult diapers M, L, XL.
4. Food for dogs and cats.
5. Drugs for the prevention of rabies in dogs and cats.
Needs in the second sector (response to consequences and early recovery):
1. Chlorine preparations.
2. Means against mold.
3. Air dehumidifiers from 50 liters/day.
4. Moto/battery knapsack sprayers for treating houses with antifungal agents.
5. Chainsaws.
6. Fecal submersible pumps with a knife.
7. Bayonet and scoop shovels.
8. Axes.
9. Bulletproof vests 1-3 classes.
10. Protective helmets (from shrapnel).
11. Construction helmets.
12. Headlamps.
13. Transparent safety glasses.
14. Respirators.
15. Rubber gloves (tight).
16. Construction gloves.
17. Rubber boots / waders / overalls.
18. Dense garbage bags / bags.
19. Gas burners, cylinders for them.
20. Buckets from 15 liters.
21. Fuel and lubricants.
In addition, the NGO "City of Power" needs funds to pay for the costs of hiring people and specialized equipment: dump trucks, sanitation machines, tractors, excavators, etc. The total amount of estimated financial need is UAH 12,549,200 (USD 339,167) for 1 month of work of mobile brigades and coordination headquarters.
