Project Sunflowers and International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma would like to invite you to their next webinar on 8 January 2024, at 1:00-3:00PM EST / 6:00-8:00PM GMT / 7:00-9:00PM CMT / 8:00-10:00PM EET & IST. This time, it will address the challenges faced by those who interact with people who have experienced war. This session is a follow-up to the webinar held on 30 October 2023, which focused on Massive Trauma and The Healing Role of Reparative Justice (link to recording: https://www.projectsunflowers.org/massive-trauma-and-the-healing-role-of-reparative-justice/).

The upcoming webinar is for professionals and others engaging with victim/survivors of war’s massive trauma to help heal and protect both victim/survivors and themselves from re/traumatization of sharing traumatic experiences. This international multidimensional, multidisciplinary webinar precedes the teaching/training process of potential interviewers about some of the main populations they would collect evidence from or about. These include (deported) children and their family members, victims of conflict-related sexual violence, torture victims, refugees, prisoners of war and members of the military.

Exclusively, there will be as many as five outstanding experts as speakers: Dr Robin Gurwitch from the Duke University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in Durham (UK), Maryna Syrytsia from the Department of Military Psychology at the Military Institut Taras Shevchenko, National University of Kyiv (Ukraine), Dr Iryna Frankova from the Free University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and the Department of Medical Psychology, Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy of Bogomolets National Medical University (BNMU) in Kyiv (Ukraine), Professor of Psychiatry and Neurosience David M. Benedek of the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda (USA), Dr Veronika Plotnikova, Head of the Coordination Centre for Support of Victims and Witnesses of the Ukraine Prosecutor General’s Office (Ukraine). The welcome speech will be delivered by Dr Ewa Hofmanska, President of the Foundation Sunflowers, and the meeting will be moderated by Dr Yael Danieli, Founder and Executive Director of the International Center for MultiGenerational Legacies of Trauma.

The organisers plan a Q&A session after the speeches.

The webinar will be conducted in English. Simultaneous interpretation into Ukrainian will be provided by the organisers.
