Due to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, many Ukrainian scholars, including legal professionals, have been forced to leave their homes and seek refuge abroad. A significant number of Ukrainian legal academics are currently working in EU countries, gaining invaluable professional experience.
The Parliament of Ukraine has been working on legal education reform for many years. On 20 February 2025, the Committee on Legal Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the Concept of the Draft Law of Ukraine "On Higher Legal Education and Initial Access to the Legal Profession".
In this context, the roundtable aims to develop recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on improving legal education in line with EU standards. These recommendations will contribute to enhancing the quality of legal education and strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in areas related to international conflicts, human rights, and post-war recovery.
