Ukrainian bankers to meet in the City of London on 4th December
Leading Ukrainian bankers will come together with their UK and international counterparts for the Ukrainian Banking Day in London (http://strategy-council.com/en/events/26), which is taking place on 4th December at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel in London and is organised by Strategy Council of the UK in partnership with the Independent Association of Banks of Ukraine.
The Day has been convened to outline to the City of London the major changes which have taken place in the Ukrainian banking sector. These include the number of banking institutions being halved; a challenging, but essential, reform process moving ahead and the nationalisation and recapitalisation of the country’s largest lender, Privatbank, occurring in a swift and controlled manner.
The most influential members of the Ukrainian banking community and other key stakeholders will highlight the progress that has been made and outline the new vision of the Ukrainian banking landscape, including:
- Kyrylo Shevchenko, Chairman of Ukrgasbank and Artem Shevalev, Alternate Director at the EBRD (and Supervisory Board Member of Privatbank, Oschadbank and Ukreximbank) are amongst the leaders of the major state-controlled banks who will outline the strategies and vision for their institutions’ future direction and what will be the state’s future role in the banking sector;
- Kateryna Rozhkova, Deputy Governor, National Bank of Ukraine, Ruslan Demchak, Deputy Head of the Rada Banking & Finance Committee, and Svitlana Rekrut, Deputy CEO of the Deposit Guarantee Fund, will be among the senior officials and regulators, who will spell out the current key priorities for the reform process;
- Volodymyr Lavrenchuk, Chairman of Raiffeisen Bank Aval, Steven Fisher, CEO of Citibank Ukraine, Iryna Starominska, Chairman of Universal Bank, Vadim Ganah, Board Member of Credit Agricole Ukraine and Roman Shpek, Senior Advisor, Alfa-Bank Ukraine, will discuss the most topical issues facing the sector, the operating environment and where the key growth areas exist;
- Francis Malige, Managing Director, Eastern Europe & Caucasus, EBRD, and Jason Pellmar, Regional Manager, Ukraine & Belarus, IFC are amongst the representatives of the IFIs, who are playing an active role in the reform and restructuring process and will outline their vision for the sector and what remains to be achieved.
