Practical Workshop “Artificial Intelligence for Lawyers” Successfully Held
On May 13, 2025, the Kyiv Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) successfully hosted a hands-on workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence for Lawyers”. The event drew significant interest from legal professionals eager not only to gain a theoretical understanding of artificial intelligence but also to explore its practical integration into day-to-day legal work.
The workshop aimed to demonstrate how generative AI tools can streamline legal workflows, assist with routine tasks, and expand analytical capabilities. A particular focus was placed on practical case studies, showcasing how AI can be applied to legal research, contract analysis, drafting legal memos, preparing presentations, and creating communication materials.
The workshop was led by Veronika Miltseva, member of the UBA Committee on IT, Media, and Data Protection; PhD, MBA; and a seasoned legal expert in IT law, intellectual property, international corporate law, and AI regulation. In her presentation, she not only demonstrated the functionality of popular AI tools but also addressed key ethical, legal, and security considerations essential for their responsible implementation.
Key topics discussed included:
- What generative AI is and how it is already transforming the legal profession
- Overview of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and others that can be effectively used by lawyers
- Risks, limitations, and best practices for the use of AI in handling personal data and confidential information
- The potential of AI for in-house legal teams, law firms, consulting practices, and the public sector
Participants actively engaged with questions, shared their experiences using AI in legal work, and discussed the legal implications of AI use in litigation, legal analysis, and legislative drafting.
The event marked another step toward making the Ukrainian legal community more open to innovation, technology, and digital transformation. According to the organizers, similar events will continue in the future — with an emphasis on deeper themes and more interactive formats.
