Dear colleagues!

We are pleased to inform you that a new, 28th committee has been established within the Ukrainian Bar Association — the Committee on Military Law, Military Justice and Protection of Veterans' Rights. The appropriate decision was adopted by the UBA Management Board at its meeting on July 13, 2023.

The proposed development concept of the newly created committee was also approved by the Board’s decision. According to the concept, the main purpose of the establishment of the UBA Committee on Military Law, Military Justice and Protection of Veterans' Rights is:

  • promotion of the development of military law and improvement of military legislation, which may consist in providing consultations and expert assistance during the development of new regulations, standards and provisions that regulate military activities;
  • facilitating the adaptation of military legislation to the legal standards of NATO member countries;
  • promotion of the professional development of the UBA members in the field of military law;
  • creation of a platform for communication, exchange of information, experiences and best practices among various stakeholders, which may include regular meetings, conferences, webinars and publications that will facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration;
  • consolidation of the legal community around the improvement of legislation that regulates military-legal relations and military activities, with the aim of protecting the rights of military personnel, veterans and their family members.

In addition, by the decision of the UBA Board, Viktoriia Konovalova, the head of the Council of the Association's branch in the Donetsk Region, a lawyer, was approved as the coordinator of the newly created committee. We wish Ms. Konovalova success and inspiration in her work in a new position!
