Special Project "Lawyers of the Putin regime": A.I. KOVLER
Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 3,236 war crimes have been committed, as well as 1,885 crimes against national security. As of today, it has been recorded that in the 33 days of the war, 144 children died and 220 were wounded by the hostile actions of the Russian soldiers. Such data were published by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine on its Telegram channel.
Some Ukrainian cities have lost electricity and water supply, and many people remain in shelters because there is fighting in their cities. It is not possible to evacuate the population promptly due to possible provocations by the Russian occupiers on the routes of humanitarian corridors.
While Ukraine is fighting for peace every second, Russian lawyers support the criminal decisions and actions of the Russian authorities.
Today, as part of a special project "Lawyers of the Putin regime", we draw attention to the statements of former judge of the European Court of Human Rights Kovler Anatoliy Ivanovich, Chairman of the RPL Standing Committee on Civil Participation in the Judiciary, Honored Lawyer of Russia, Doctor of Laws:
“This is a tragedy for all of us. In recent days, there has been a vile tactic of the Ukrainian side, provoking Russia. If you think from the point of view of international law, then we are talking about a classic humanitarian intervention that the West carried out in Kosovo by bombing Belgrade and the positions of the Serbs. All this was justified as a humanitarian intervention. The same was in Somalia, Haiti, and quote-unquote in Libya, and so on."
We are convinced that international law will prevail, and all criminals will be responsible for every death of a peaceful Ukrainian citizen, for every destroyed house, for every damaged tree on the territory of our independent and free country!
A selection of previous statements within the special project:
