A year full of events: UBA Students’ League summarized the results at its 14th Legal Assembly

Throughout the year, the Students' League of the Ukrainian Bar Association organized numerous events, lectures, webinars, all-Ukrainian, regional and local schools, implemented projects, volunteer initiatives and social activities. This is just a part of the busy year for our organization.

But every beginning has its end. On July 27-28, the Board of the UBA Students’ League 2023-2024 "Tribal Fusion" held the 14th Legal Assembly. This event is extremely important for our community, as it symbolizes the end of one stage and the beginning of a new one. The Assembly is a time to analyze the past and believe in a bright future.

For each League member, this is a fateful event, because at the UBA Students' League Legal Assembly we:

  • summarize the results of the year's activities;
  • present awards to the UBA Students' League branches;
  • analyze and vote on the programs of candidates for the next Board.

It is worth noting that the Assembly must be attended by a delegate from each UBA Students' League branch. Delegates have the right to vote, which allows them to take an active part in its activities. The number of delegates is determined in proportion to the number of members of the organization, which guarantees fair representation. It is important that each chapter is represented by at least one delegate — this ensures full participation of all chapters in the activities of the UBA Students' League.

On July 27, representatives of all UBA Students' League branches gathered in Kyiv. The office of the Ukrainian Bar Association became a cozy place for this: it was there that the UBA Students League held a meeting in the format of the "Extended Board" in cooperation with the NGO Stan.

Stan is a non-governmental organization that uses non-formal education to strengthen grassroots initiatives and support active citizens. The organization specializes in non-formal education on human rights, participatory democracy, cultural management, project management, 21st century skills, and sustainable development.

Iryna Rotar, non-formal education trainer at the NGO Stan and coordinator of the volunteer initiative Spivdiia Odiag, helped organize the reflection.

The purpose of the reflection was to analyze own activities, work through both negative and good points, and determine plans for the future. The participants had the opportunity to evaluate their achievements, identify the difficulties they faced, and find ways to overcome them. Particular attention was paid to planning future projects and initiatives to ensure their effective implementation and further development of the organization.

The official part of the 14th Legal Assembly took place on July 28 at the MORIS office. This leading Ukrainian law firm, in addition to effectively working and protecting the interests of clients for many years, always helps students in the implementation of our initiatives. We sincerely thank MORIS for the partnership and for being a great example to follow.

The event began with the UBA Students' League Report for 2023-2024. The “Tribal Fusion” Board team summarized the results of the activities by areas.

Kseniia Ukolova, Head of the UBA Students’ League, noted that 222 events were held during her term, 20 of which were held at the national level.

Danylo Fedyk added about external relations: "We managed to sign 20 memorandums, launch internship platforms with USAID and cooperate with students from Sweden and Estonia."

Kristina Shpak, Head of the Public Initiative Committee, drew attention to the results of GR activities: official meetings with representatives of state and local authorities, sightseeing visits to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, judicial institutions, and city council meetings. 8 memorandums with civil society organizations were signed.

None of these events would have been possible without the financial support of the partners, Vladyslav Kryvoborodyi presented more details about that.

Denys Bekhalo, Internal Development Manager of the UBA Students' League, reported that during his term 3 new branches were opened, the number of members increased by 368, and the Internal Development Strategy of the UBA Students' League was created.

Later, it was the turn of the regional coordinators. The successes of the Students' League were shared at the local level:

  • Yana Mudryk, Coordinator of the Northern Region (Kyiv branch, Local branch on the basis of the College of Finance and Law, Ostroh branch, Chernihiv branch, and Vinnytsia branch, which has started its activities).
  • Anna Nesterenko, Coordinator of the Southern Region, which includes the Odesa branch of the UBA Students' League. She also spoke about the Western region, namely Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Chernivtsi branches and the Local branch of the Lviv Polytechnic.
  • Anna Aleksandrova, Coordinator of the Eastern Region (Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih and Poltava branches).

The final report was presented by Oleksandr Muzyka, Media Manager of the UBA Students' League, and Marta Khrin, PR Manager of the League. They noted that during this cadence and the work of the PR & Media Department, there has been a significant increase in the audience in social networks, and all because each of us was "bound by purpose, driven by passion".

Kseniia Ukolova, Head of the UBA Students' League, emphasized: "We are not showing our own achievements, we are demonstrating a comprehensive approach of hard work and diligence of each area of the Tribal Fusion team."

Traditionally, the branches that have made a significant contribution to the development of the Students' League and the implementation of its projects have received long-awaited awards:

  • Breakthrough of the Year Award — Lviv Polytechnic National University local branch of the UBA Students League.
  • Award "Perspective of the Year" — Ivano-Frankivsk branch of the UBA Students' League.
  • Award "Innovation of the Year" — Lviv Polytechnic National University local branch of the UBA Students League — podcast "Legal Kitchen".
  • Project of the Year Award — Poltava branch of the UBA Students' League — "Model of the Verkhovna Rada".

  • Award "School of the Year" — Lviv branch of the UBA Students League — All-Ukrainian school "Legal writing school 5.0".
  • Award "Branch of the Year" — Kyiv branch of the UBA Students' League.

These awards not only recognize the achievements of individual chapters, but also emphasize the importance of their contribution to the overall development of the UBA Students' League. They serve as a confirmation that hard work, innovative approaches and active social position are always well appreciated. The awarded chapters have demonstrated a high level of professionalism and dedication, which motivates other members of the Students' League to be even more active and implement new ambitious projects, and we are convinced that they can do it.

The term of the UBA Students' League “Tribal Fusion” Board in 2023-2024 is officially over. Who will continue the activities of the UBA Students’ League? You will find out very soon.
