Massive judicial selection process: over 1,700 legal professionals participate in partnership meetings with HQCJ and UBA
In December 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJ) announced the launch of the judicial selection process for local courts. The projected number of vacant positions is 1,800. This selection process is the largest in the history of Ukrainian jurisprudence and aims to form a candidate reserve for about one-third of first-instance judges.
Throughout February 2025, the Ukrainian Bar Association, in cooperation with the HQCJ, organized a series of regional meetings with potential candidates for the competition. The meetings took place in Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Kyiv. The UBA covered these events on its platforms.
Over 1,700 participants joined the meetings, which became an important venue for discussing the selection process and candidate requirements, both in-person and online.
Candidates who successfully pass the qualification exam will be included in the reserve, which will be valid for two years. This will allow them to participate in the competitive procedures not only in 2025 but also in 2026 and 2027.
The submission of applications and documents for participation in the selection will continue throughout March 2025. The qualification exam is scheduled to start in June 2025, with its stages lasting until August 2025.
