Levitt Institute's course "Critical Thinking and Advocacy as the Foundation of a Free Society": register now!
The Leavitt Institute for International Development is launching the fall semester of the course "Critical Thinking and Advocacy as the Foundation of a Free Society," starting on September 24, 2024.
As part of its program, the Leavitt Institute works with law students and practicing attorneys over two semesters — 8 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the spring (one class per week). The fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year begins on September 24 and will be held online via Zoom.
This course is taught by experienced American and Canadian lawyers and judges, who enthusiastically present the adversarial system of justice, explain democratic principles, and introduce the fundamentals of jury trials and their key components.
By attending this course, you will develop legal and investigative skills, including the art of persuasion, fact analysis, teamwork, collaboration, and courtroom advocacy — all essential for building and advancing democratic institutions in Ukraine. The course is taught in English without translation, so a sufficient level of English proficiency is required for participation.
By attending at least 80% of the classes, you will have the opportunity to participate in regional and national mock trial competitions and receive a certificate of course completion. Participation in the program is free of charge.
At the end of the academic year, the Leavitt Institute selects students on a competitive basis to participate in a three-week online summer internship.
To register for this course, please follow the link and fill out the form: https://forms.gle/JNLXWviDQL8wXzqd6.
Please note: Spaces are limited. The final registration deadline is September 20, 2024.
