IBA will provide expert support to the UBA in the second phase of monitoring war crimes trials
The International Bar Association (IBA) will continue to provide expert support to the Ukrainian Bar Association in implementing the second phase of the project "The trial monitoring in war crimes cases".
At an online meeting on January 9, 2024, the parties discussed the results of the first phase of the project and the importance of monitoring and analyzing war crimes trials to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with international legal standards.

Dr. Mark Ellis, Executive Director of the IBA, promised the UBA expert support from the International Bar Association and confirmed his readiness for further cooperation and exchange of experience to achieve the declared goal of monitoring.
The IBA and the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) provided comprehensive expert support in the development of the Methodology for trial monitoring in war crimes cases committed in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Bar Association continues to implement the second phase of the project "The trial monitoring in war crimes cases" and will inform about its progress.
