Expert opinion: Ukraine’s pension reform — what changes are coming

In early December 2024, Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy unveiled a draft pension reform that introduces a "point-based pension system" set to launch in July 2025. The reform aims to revamp the pension calculation approach, addressing inequalities faced by retirees who left the workforce in different years.

Evgeny Promskyi, a lawyer with the UBA Hotline on issues related to military aggression, its consequences, and martial law, and an attorney at ARES Law Firm, discussed the key aspects of the proposed changes in comments to Fakty ICTV and UNIAN. He highlighted how the new calculation formula could impact future retirees.
