The UBA member Andriy Kostin has been appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on the proposal of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, appointed Andriy Kostin as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Bar Association congratulates the colleague on the appointment and expresses gratitude for the cooperation!
Mr. Kostin devoted a significant part of his career to advocacy. He worked as a lawyer, and managing partner of Pravo Law Firm. He was the deputy chairman of the Odesa Regional Bar Council and the deputy chairman of the presidium of the Odesa Regional Bar College. In 2019, Andriy Kostin became a People's Deputy of Ukraine from the "Servant of the People" party, headed the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Legal Policy.
Mr. Kostin has been the UBA member since 2017. During this time, he has actively participated in the expert work and events of the Association, acted as an expert in the "Lawyer of the Future" program.
We are sure of continuing cooperation with Mr. Kostin in his new position. Society and the legal community hope for an effective investigation of war crimes of the Russian Federation with the involvement of civil society, further reform of the prosecutor's office in accordance with the requirements necessary for Ukraine to become a member of the EU, as well as interaction with the legal profession in compliance with the principles of respect for the right to defense and non-identification of lawyers and clients. These questions are critically important not only for lawyers but for all citizens of Ukraine.
We also welcome Andriy Kostin's first decision as the Prosecutor General - the appointment of Oleksandr Klymenko as the new Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. Both Ukrainians and foreign partners have been waiting for this decision for a long time.
Together we will win!
