UBA and USAID Justice for All Activity signed the Protocol of cooperation

On August 5, 2024, the Ukrainian Bar Association and the USAID Justice for All Activity signed a Protocol of Cooperation in the areas of improving the quality of legal education, reforming the bar and monitoring trials on war crimes committed during Russia’s war.

“The European Commission’s recommendations for Ukraine’s European Union accession process are the key in our joint work with the UBA,” underlined David Vaughn, USAID Justice for All Activity Chief of Party.

This partnership will promote the justice sector reform, contribute to preparing highly qualified legal professionals and strengthening the Bar as an independent, accountable institution that upholds judicial independence and promotes the rule of law in Ukraine.

“We are excited to collaborate with USAID Justice for All Activity in strengthening the rule of law in Ukraine. This partnership will enable us to combine our resources and expertise to build fair and independent judiciary, strengthen the role of lawyers in the society, fight against corruption, and improve legal education in Ukraine,” said Mykola Stetsenko, President of the UBA.

The USAID Justice for All Activity and UBA will join efforts to develop a culture of integrity and zero tolerance for corruption and strengthen the capacity of the justice system to consider war crimes fairly, efficiently and impartially.
