UBA joined the development of recommendations of the Ministry of Digital Transformation on the use of AI in advertising and marketing
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, together with specialized experts, has developed recommendations for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in advertising and marketing. The developed tips will help creatives and small businesses work with innovative tools without risks for themselves and their customers.
Experts from specialized associations and government institutions, including Iryna Stroiko, a member of the UBA Committee on IT, Media and Personal Data Protection, joined the development of the recommendations.
Representatives of the Expert Advisory Committee on the Development of Artificial Intelligence under the Ministry of Digital Transformation, IT Ukraine Association, Interactive Advertising Bureau of Ukraine, All-Ukrainian Advertising Coalition, Ukrainian Marketing Association, National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, and State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection also took part in the development of the recommendations.
The document contains tips on how to increase the effectiveness of advertising and marketing communications using AI without misleading consumers or violating advertising laws.
The recommendations include controlling what data you share with AI systems, not sharing personal data of the target audience, labeling content generated by AI tools, and not delegating 100% of the ad creation to artificial intelligence.
The appendix contains instructions with checklists on what to look for when choosing an AI tool and how to assess whether the generated content violates consumer rights.
You can read the recommendations here (in Ukrainian). You also may share your feedback.
Recommendations on the responsible use of AI in advertising and marketing are one of the tools the government will provide to businesses to prepare for the future regulation of artificial intelligence in Ukraine. The full list of tools can be found in the White Paper on AI regulation in Ukraine (in Ukrainian).
The recommendations have been developed with the support of the United States Agency for International Development under the USAID Project “Cybersecurity of Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure” and the “Support for Digital Transformation” Project with the support of USAID and UK Dev.
