UBA participates in discussion of legislative amendments regarding the activities of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine

On October 4, the Ukrainian Bar Association took part in a roundtable dedicated to discussing the draft Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Activities of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine" (AMCU).

The event gathered representatives from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Business Ombudsman Council, the American Chamber of Commerce, the European Business Association, members of the public, as well as experts from international technical assistance projects funded by the EU and USA.

UBA members — Oleksandr Nagorny, Chair of the UBA Committee on Competition Law, Counsel at Sayenko Kharenko, and Oleksandr Voznyuk, Deputy Chair of the UBA Committee on Competition Law, Partner at Asters — actively contributed to the discussion of key changes introduced by the second phase of competition law reform.

The draft law proposes changes in substantive and procedural law, as well as related amendments to other Ukrainian laws, including the Commercial Code of Ukraine, the Commercial Procedure Code of Ukraine, the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, and the laws "On the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine" and "On Protection Against Unfair Competition."

To recall, the second stage of competition law reform was presented by the AMCU on July 24, 2024, after which electronic consultations regarding the draft law were initiated.
