ABA condemned the Russian invasion and called on Russia to immediately cease hostilities
The American Bar Association (ABA) adopted a resolution condemning the Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and calling for adequate mechanisms for reparations, reconciliation, and accountability for violations of international law.
In the resolution, the ABA condemns the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine and calls on the Russian Federation to observe the laws of war and immediately cease hostilities.
ABA appeals to the UN Secretary General to develop a comprehensive set of proposals to ensure the accountability of legal entities and individuals involved in aggression.
The association calls on the UN General Assembly to create a registry of claims for compensation and evidence of damage caused by the Russians, and to ask all states to keep any frozen assets of the Russian Federation or its citizens under frozen status until all claims are resolved.
The ABA will also call on relevant authorities to seek peaceful solutions to the conflict, investigate war crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes of genocide, crimes of aggression and violations of human rights and prosecute those involved in these crimes.
