Committee on Migration Law Launched its Work


KYIV - April 18, 2018. The newly elected Committee on Migration Law held its first meeting, discussing  the issues of migration law in Ukraine and the role of migration law for the Ukrainian business.

Maksym Sokolyuk, Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine, Olena Dubchak, Head of the Legal Support Department of the State Migration Service of Ukraine, and Volodymyr Sayenko, Vice-President of the Ukrainian Bar Association opened the first meeting and presented the goals and tasks of the UBA Committee on Migration Law.

Sergiy Nizhynsky, coordinator of the UBA Committee on Migration Law, Director of the Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on strategic planning and coordination of state policy, expert on migration and criminal law, candidate of legal sciences, analyzed the problem issues of migration law in Ukraine: legal status of refugee, ID card, international adoption, obtaining a permanent residence permit through investments in Ukraine, etc.

The speaker explained the reasons causing the demand for legal services in migration law: "I think that it is the active work of the State Migration Service, changes in the legislation, the urgency of issues concerning migrants, refugees, readmission, adoption, extradition, temporary protection and temporary / permanent residence, citizenship, emigration and immigration, the interest of foreigners in Ukraine is creating a need for migration today. "
