LVIV - November 24, 2017. The Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that will allow for more joint projects for both students and practicing lawyers.
The signing took place within the framework of an open lecture by Andriy Stelmashchuk, the President of the UBA.
For three years, the Ukrainian Catholic University has been working closely with the Ukrainian Bar Association. Many events of the Association, in particular the Western Ukrainian Legal Forum 2016, took place at the University, and the Law School's activities and programs are supported by the UBA.
"This signing is very symbolic for us, because I hope it will break new ground in the relationship between the Ukrainian Catholic University and the Ukrainian Bar Association. And now we already have some ideas on joint development of new projects in legal education," - said Ivan Gorodyskiy, director of the UCU School of Law, while signing a memorandum of cooperation.
Many law professionals support the legal branch of UCU education: solely this year, 9 students received scholarships from law firms for the Master's Program in Human Rights. One of them was provided by Vasil Kisil & Partners whose partner, Andriy Stelmashchuk, was elected President of the Ukrainian Bar Association this year.
"I am very pleased that the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Ukrainian Catholic University work closely together. We are happy to have such partnership and we are proud that we can join as a professional community to one of the most progressive educational institutions", - said Andriy Stelmashchuk. - Indeed, the Ukrainian Catholic University, without exaggeration, is a certain benchmark, which needs to be equated with educational issues for many educational institutions in Ukraine. And it's encouraging that UCU demonstrates high standards and good dynamics of development."
Already in the near future, UBA and UCU are planning to launch a series of projects aimed at raising the level of professional qualifications of lawyers and forming a vision for further development of the legal environment in Lviv and Ukraine.
